Rest in peace Cha-cha

In early March, we made the tough decision to have Charly our German Shepherd mix put to sleep.  She had a degenerative nerve disease and had lost the use of her back legs about nine months previously and unfortunately the weakness was creeping up her torso.  She was no longer able to walk or really do much more than lay on her dog bed and as hard as it was for us, it was her time.   While Josh's exuberant love is not always returned by any of the dogs and cats, Charly or Cha-Cha as he called her always had to put up with his climbing and hugging since she couldn't move out of the way.  Even with her disability, Charly was an amazing dog and never once snapped at him.  Even with his constant use of her as a jungle gym, we didn't really think he would notice that she was gone given how self-focused toddlers are but the day after she was gone though, he wandered the house with a treat checking all of her beds calling for her.

In honor of Charly and the faithful companion she was as we built our family, here are my favorite photos of her and Josh.

Rest in peace, Cha-Cha
